What is the difference between portable air conditioner and window air conditioner?

Portable air conditioner is a self-contained unit designed for cooling a single room, while window air conditioner is designed for cooling a single room through an external window. Portable air conditioners are usually more economical than window units and can be moved from one room to another. However, they are not as powerful as window units and do not cool as large an area. Window units are more powerful and can cool larger areas than portable units. However, they cannot be moved from one room to another.

What is the difference between single-hose and dual-hose portable air conditioner?

Single-hose portable air conditioners have one hose that carries both the cold air and the hot air back into the room. Dual-hose portable air conditioners have two hoses that carry cold air into the room and hot air out of the room. Dual-hose portable air conditioners are more efficient than single-hose units because they remove hot, humid air from the room rather than simply cooling it down.

How much electricity will my portable air conditioner use?

The amount of electricity your portable unit uses depends on how much it cools your space, how often you use it, and what size it is. Most models use about 800 watts when operating (even if they are set on high). For example, if you use your unit for two hours per day at medium speed, you will use about 1 kWh per day (0.27 kWh per hour). A typical residential customer uses about 11 kWh per day (3 kWh per hour), so your unit will account for about 2% of your daily energy usage.
